I encountered almost no bugs, and absolutely no crashes. I'll be continuing to play this and continuing to follow the updates! I look forward to further development :) Maybe each shop location could attract more of a certain type of customer, or maybe reduced material costs but also reduced profits, etc. This may also help there be a benefit to running the later coffee shops as far as I can tell, with the exception of completing story quests to unlock the next shop, the shops all have the exact same gameplay and purpose and the only difference (at least between the first two locations) is making your shop a little bigger. I imagine that's a big undertaking, but it wouldn't even have to be large (not like an open world or something like a Sims world, just a scene) just something that occupies the active screen and sets the scene. WORLD: On a similar note, I'd be very happy to see our shop be placed in a world instead of its own little, like, pocket dimension. Perhaps garbage cans, maybe with an added trash collection system? Maybe unlock more wallpaper and flooring as you level up, like the decoration items? I would also REALLY love to be able to place my own windows. I've been having a very hard time determining what aspects I actually need to work on for my drinks to be better.įURNITURE/DECORATION: Would love to see more choices, especially with walls and flooring. As far as I can tell, cool colours are negative and warm colours are positive - which is the opposite of the usual "red = bad, green = good" system. RATING/SATISFACTION SYSTEM: This system is not intuitive. I'm really enjoying this game! For my review, rather than focus on the highlights, I'd like to more give feedback to the dev on some concerns I have and features I'd like to see. You're probably looking at 15-20 hours of game play if you like it, or $0.53 to $0.40 an hour of enjoyment. You can, within limits, try new things/take different paths. There could definitely be more content - more competitors to buy out, recipes to purchase, stores to build, challenges to complete. Like after you've bought all the other companies, maxed out all your coffee shops, and bought all the pre-built coffees/foods/whatever you kind of hit a point of doneness. There's definitely a point on any given save file you've done all there is to do. Some of the 3D graphics are pretty rough, especially the 3D people. As you progress through the game, you can automate many of the early-game functions (i.e. The stocks option is a fun idea and works as a late-game goal to aspire to. Save, pause, and exit are all pretty accessible. Autosave is an option but not mandated. If the developers wanted to add more cities/regions you can expand your coffee empire to it would fit within the existing framework well. When you get to the point you can make your own drinks, that's actually a really fun little feature. Difficultly, variety, and quantity of tasks also increases as you play through. It took me like 18 hours to completely finish it, but if you really wanted to you could grind (pun intended) through the game and all the achievements in like 15 hours. It's a cute little game and totally worth the $8, and it definitely good be expanded. ☐ As bad as a cheap sunday afternoon movie. ☑ There is one, but it adds nothing really. But all in all, a very cozy and fun little game to play :) ☐ Only if u care about leaderboards/ranksĬomment: There are a lot of improvements to be made, like trying out an equipment before you buy it and that you can undo the choices you make throughout the game. I would still recommend this game for what it is, however it's still very much rough around the edges. This hampered my game play a lot as customers would refuse to buy a coffee that was $1 more than it's original price (after they complained that it was too cheap initially). Even changing the price of the item by one unit tipped the scales to the opposite extreme. The items are either way too expensive or way too cheap, there was no balance. The other issue I had was the pricing of items. To the games defence, their main focus is on management, and for this they did an excellent job. After weeks of not playing them, I was able to jump straight back into them and play a level without trouble. I've never had this issue with other tycoon games (RCT, ZT, AT, etc). However I found the UI overly complex and, to be honest, quite a hassle to work with.Īfter not playing the game for a week, I had to re-do the tutorial to figure out where to click and what to do. As a tycoon lover, I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting tycoon games.Ĭoffee Shop Tycoon is not the first tycoon game centred around coffee, however it's definitely one of the better ones.
